Nigeria Could Face Algeria, Morocco in Path to 2025 AFCON Final

Nigeria may be set for a tough road to glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as the Super Eagles could face continental heavyweights Algeria and Morocco on their path to the final.

The tournament has now entered the knockout phase, following the conclusion of the group stage, where Nigeria emerged as one of the standout teams after recording a perfect run of victories.

The Super Eagles topped their group with maximum points, displaying impressive form, defensive solidity and attacking efficiency that have placed them among the favourites to lift the trophy.

However, the road ahead appears challenging. Depending on results in other groups, Nigeria could be drawn against former champions Algeria in the round of 16 or quarterfinals, while a potential semi-final or final clash with Morocco also looms.

Both North African giants are known for their tactical discipline and tournament experience, making any encounter a stern test for the Nigerian side.

Speaking on the team’s prospects, football analysts have praised the Super Eagles’ balance and depth but warned that concentration and discipline will be key as the competition intensifies.

Head coach and players have remained cautious, insisting that focus remains on one match at a time as the team eyes a fourth AFCON title.

Nigeria last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 and will be hoping to end the long wait by maintaining their impressive form in the knockout stages.

The Super Eagles’ next opponent will be confirmed after the completion of all group-stage fixtures.
