Nigeria Bandits kidnap Imam, 10 worshippers in Sokoto mosque

The chief Imam of Bushe community mosque in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State was on Thursday kidnapped alongside 10 worshippers.

 

Spokesperson for the Sokoto police command, Ahmed Rufai, who confirmed the incident, revealed that the bandits invaded the mosque on Thursday morning as worshippers performed the Subhi prayer.

 

Reports also revealed that the community has been under siege by bandits despite the presence of security operatives who swiftly repelled the attackers and prevented further damage.

 

The number of abductees could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

  1. Ahmed assured that security agencies were working tirelessly to secure the safe return of the abducted worshippers.

 

The current event underscores the rising wave of kidnapping and banditry in Sokoto and other Northern states, where armed groups have continued to target rural communities, displacing families and instilling fear among residents.
