My Husband’s Administration Inherited Economic Woes, Says Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has defended her husband, President Bola Tinubu, against criticisms of the ongoing economic hardship in the country.

She emphasized that the administration is working hard to resolve the country’s economic difficulties, which they inherited.

“We are just 18 months into our administration, we are not the cause of the current situation, we are trying to fix it and secure the future,” she said during a visit to Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, at his palace in Osun State.

Oluremi Tinubu also acknowledged the public concern regarding the removal of fuel subsidies but expressed optimism that the country will see significant improvements within the next two years.

“With God on our side, in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this,” she assured. “Those who attempted to remove the subsidy before could not see it through. But with your prayers, we will build a nation for the future”.

The Ooni of Ife expressed admiration for the First Lady, particularly highlighting her contributions through the New Era Initiative, which provided opportunities for young students to serve as the One Day Governor in Lagos.

Oluremi Tinubu also reflected on the humility of her family, noting their gratitude for the positions they hold.

“We give glory to God for our status. Myself and my husband, we are not greedy. We cannot disappoint Nigeria and, with the help of God, we will deliver, ” she added.
