Labour Party Denies Alleged Deal with Tinubu Over 2027 Presidency
1 min readThe Labour Party (LP) has firmly rejected reports suggesting that the party has entered into a partnership with President Bola Tinubu in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential elections.
The claims, which alleged that the LP had agreed to help Tinubu secure a second term if he contests, have been described as entirely baseless by the party’s leadership.
In a statement issued on Friday, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, categorically dismissed the reports as unfounded.

Ifoh emphasized that the Labour Party remains a strong opposition force in Nigerian politics, with its National Chairman, Barrister Abure, consistently critical of the current administration.
The party is focused on its efforts to strengthen democratic practices in the country, including the establishment of an Electoral Reform Committee and a new e-membership registration system that has already attracted thousands of subscribers.
“The Labour Party is not in any form of partnership or agreement with the All Progressives Congress (APC) or President Tinubu.
These claims are not only misleading but also damaging to the party’s image,” Ifoh stated.
He also called on political figures such as Deji Adeyanju, who propagated the rumors, to provide concrete evidence to back their allegations.
