Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner, Wife Regain Freedom

The Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Mba, and his wife have been released after spending a day in captivity.

They were abducted on Friday by unknown gunmen along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while traveling to Abuja for the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

A reliable government official confirmed their release to Punch on Saturday night.

The couple was reportedly traveling in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus with other passengers when they were abducted. Tragically, one of the commissioner’s aides, Mr. ABK Offiah, was killed during the attack.

The Anambra State government has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or provide further details on the circumstances surrounding their release.
