Kano Fire Service Saves 34 Lives, Records 13 Deaths in May


The Kano State Fire Service has reported rescuing 34 people and saving properties valued at over N437 million during emergency operations carried out across the state in May 2026.
According to the agency, its personnel responded to multiple fire outbreaks, rescue missions, and other emergencies throughout the month, helping to minimize damage and protect lives and property.
Despite the successes recorded, the service disclosed that 13 people lost their lives in various incidents during the period, underscoring the persistent risks associated with fires, accidents, and other emergencies.
Officials said the agency remains committed to improving emergency response capabilities and strengthening public awareness on fire prevention and safety measures.
The Fire Service also urged residents to observe safety guidelines, regularly inspect electrical installations, and avoid practices that could trigger fire outbreaks.
Authorities noted that prompt reporting of emergencies and cooperation from the public contributed significantly to the successful rescue operations recorded during the month.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while calling on residents to remain vigilant and prioritize safety in homes, workplaces, and public spaces.
