1 min readJuventus have officially announced the signing of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.
The 19-year-old defender had been sought after by a number of elite clubs in Europe including PSG, Manchester United and Barcelona.
But the Italian champions have secured his signature on a five-year deal.
Juventus have paid an initial fee of £67.8million for De Ligt, who helped Ajax reach last season’s Champions League semi-finals and win the Eredivisie title, while reaching the Nations League final with Holland.
The Serie A champions announced the deal on their Twitter page with a “Turn the Ligt on” message.
De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola had agreed personal terms worth around £10.75m a year with the club weeks ago.
