JOHESU Declares Seven-Day Warning Strike Over Unmet Demands
1 min readMembers of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) have initiated a seven-day warning strike effective from midnight today, following unresolved grievances with the Federal Government.
The announcement was made by the national chairman, Kabiru Minijibir, during a press briefing in Abuja.
Minijibir highlighted several key demands, including the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure, a twenty-five percent review of arrears owed since June 2023, and an upward revision of the retirement age for health workers.

Additionally, the union is calling for tax waivers on allowances for healthcare personnel and prompt payment of COVID-19 hazard allowances.
This strike follows a fifteen-day notice issued to the government, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Minijibir urged all union members nationwide to comply with the strike directive, stressing that their concerns must be addressed to avoid further disruptions in healthcare services.
