INEC Chair Urges Discipline Ahead of Ekiti, Osun Elections

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has called on electoral officials to maintain discipline and integrity as preparations intensify for the upcoming governorship elections in Ekiti State and Osun State.

 

Yakubu made the call during a meeting with commission staff, stressing the importance of professionalism and transparency in the conduct of elections. He noted that the credibility of the electoral body depends largely on the commitment and ethical conduct of its workforce.

 

The INEC chairman also emphasized the need to improve staff welfare and operational efficiency, assuring officials that the commission remains committed to reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.

 

He urged personnel to remain focused and uphold the principles of fairness and accountability to ensure that the elections reflect the will of the people.

 

The governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun are expected to test the preparedness of the commission as it continues efforts to improve electoral credibility across Nigeria.
