I’m Not a Coward, I Won’t Join APC — Gov Bala

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed claims linking him to terrorism financing, describing the allegations as politically motivated and aimed at forcing him to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on the development, the governor said he would not be intimidated or coerced into abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that his loyalty remains with the people of Bauchi State.

“I am not a coward. I will not join the APC because of pressure or intimidation. The allegations being peddled against me are nothing but political persecution,” Bala said.

The governor was reacting to reports linking him to alleged terrorism financing, an allegation he described as baseless, malicious and calculated to damage his reputation.

According to him, the timing of the allegations raises serious concerns, especially as they come amid growing political realignments and pressure on opposition figures to defect to the ruling party.

Governor Bala maintained that his administration has remained committed to peace, security and good governance in Bauchi State, adding that no amount of blackmail would distract him from delivering on his mandate.

He also urged security agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to remain professional and avoid being used as tools for political vendetta.

Supporters of the governor have similarly condemned the allegations, describing them as an attempt to silence opposition voices ahead of future political contests.

As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC had yet to issue an official response to the governor’s claims.
