Harry Kane Will Miss The Remainder Of The Season – Mauricio Pochettino
2 min readTottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino fears Harry Kane will miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury after admitting the striker’s issue ‘does not look good’.
The forward limped out of Spurs’ 1-0 win against Manchester City when the score was goalless midway through the second half of a pulsating night in north London.
Pochettino was seen in a heated discussion with Fabian Delph after the incident that left Kane hobbling down the tunnel and the injury appears to be on the same left ankle that he injured in January in a defeat against Manchester United.
Spurs take a slender one-goal advantage to the Etihad next week where they’ll be slight favourites to progress to the semi-finals. However, Pochettino admits he’s likely to be without Kane.
Asked if Kane could miss the rest of the season, Pochettino nodded and said: ‘If you see the action, it is an action where he twists the ankle and it can damage the ligament. ‘We have to check in the next few days.
It’s so painful but what can we do now? It’s impossible [to change anything] we have to look forward and hope it’s not a big issue. We hope he can recover as soon as possible but it does not look good.’
Hugo Lloris saved Sergio Aguero’s spot-kick and the score remained level until ten minutes from time when Son kept a seemingly-hopeless pass in play and cutback to fire past Ederson. Pochettino admits he was delgihted with the performance but insists City are still favourites to progress.
‘I am happy with the performance,’ said Pochettino. ‘I am happy with the way we approach the game. Of course the performance was very good but it’s a challenge for the future to get this level and to be consistent, I am so happy.’
‘Man City is the favourite to win the Champions League so it’s going to be tough and completely different in one week. To win first leg gives us belief that we are going to be there to fight.‘
