Gombe Varsity Denies Bandit Attack, Labels Report Fake
The management of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that the institution was attacked by bandits.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the university described the claims as fake news, urging students, parents, and the general public to disregard the information. The management reassured the university community that the campus remains safe and secure, with no record of any security breach.
According to the statement, normal academic and administrative activities are ongoing without disruption, and security agencies are fully present within and around the campus to ensure the safety of students and staff.
“The attention of the management of the Federal University of Kashere has been drawn to a false report making the rounds on social media about an alleged bandit attack on the university,” the statement read. “Management wishes to categorically state that no such incident occurred.”
The university further cautioned against the spread of unverified information, noting that such reports could cause unnecessary panic and anxiety among students and their families.
Management advised members of the public to rely on official communication channels of the institution for accurate and timely information, while reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of the university community.
The Federal University of Kashere is one of Nigeria’s federal universities located in Gombe State, Northeast Nigeria.
