Georginio Wijnaldum’s Reveals Anger At Jurgen Klopp After Barcelona Masterclass
2 min readLiverpool match winner Georginio Wijnaldum was left fuming with manager Jurgen Klopp after he was benched against Barcelona.
The Reds defeated Barcelona 4-0 to Anfield as they overturned a 3-0 defeat in the first leg to book their place in the Madrid final next month.
Wijnaldum came off the bench for Liverpool he replaced Andrew Robertson at half-time and the midfielder put in a stunning display as he scored twice on a memorable night.
And it seems that while the Dutch international was thrilled to reach the final, he did admit that he had been disappointed not to start.
Speaking to BT Sport, he explained: ” I was very angry at the manager that he put me on the bench but I had to do something.
“When I came in I just tried to help the team and I’m happy that I could help the team with two goals. Overall it was a good team performance.”
Asked about his thoughts following the game, he added: “After the game in Spain we were confident we could score four at home and win 4-0.
“I think the people from outside, they doubted us. They thought we couldn’t do it but once again we showed that everything is possible. We won 4-0.
“I will say that we believed. We believed it from the start that we could win 4-0 and I just said that people from outside, they thought it was not possible.
“We know it is possible at this club. We found a way to do it.”
