France Changes G7 Summit Date to Fit Trump’s Schedule — White House

France has officially rescheduled the 2026 G7 summit to accommodate U.S. President Donald Trump’s schedule, the White House says, sparking international attention. Originally set for June 14–16 in Évian-les-Bains, the summit will now run from June 15–17 after talks with G7 partners.

According to officials familiar with the planning, the adjustment was made to avoid a scheduling conflict with a significant event in the United States on June 14 — President Trump’s 80th birthday celebrations, which include a large UFC mixed martial arts event at the White House. Trump’s attendance at the G7 is considered essential by other leaders, prompting the shift in dates.

The French presidency has said the new summit timing resulted from consultations with G7 partners, though it did not publicly link the change to any single U.S. event. The summit brings together leaders from the world’s leading democratic economies, including the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and Canada.
