Aliyu stated, “This project targets electrifying 17.5 million Nigerians, and I must say that this is one of the most ambitious projects in the world.”
He noted that Nigeria’s electrification goals align with international efforts to ensure energy access for all, with India being the only other country undertaking a similarly large-scale initiative.
The Distributed Renewable Energy Scaleup project aims to provide a sustainable energy solution for rural communities, significantly reducing the reliance on traditional power grids and promoting cleaner energy alternatives.
In addition to this rural electrification project, Aliyu indicated that the REA plans to introduce cost-effective renewable energy solutions to tertiary institutions across Nigeria, further enhancing the country’s energy landscape.
