FG Denies Approving Same-Sex Marriage Debate For Schools
1 min readThe Federal Government has denied approving a letter circulating on social media that claims it has sanctioned a national schools competition and debate on the topic “Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Legalised in Nigeria.”
The Ministry of Education has refuted the claim, stating that the letter is “fraudulent and fake.” The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, emphasized that the ministry has not authorized or endorsed any debate or competition on the topic of same-sex marriage.

“The Nigerian government has consistently maintained a strong stance against the legalisation of same-sex marriage, as evidenced by the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2014,” Sani-Gwarzo said.
The ministry has reported the matter to security agencies and advised the public to disregard the letter and its planned program.
