FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays for Easter Celebration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration.

The announcement was made to enable Christians across the country observe the important religious festival, which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In a statement issued on behalf of the government, authorities congratulated Christians on the occasion of the Easter celebration and encouraged them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, love, and redemption associated with the season.

The government also urged Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress of the nation.

Citizens were further advised to celebrate responsibly and promote harmony among people of different faiths and backgrounds.
