Federal High Court Judges To Begin Yuletide Vacation December 16

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, has announced that the 2024 yuletide vacation for judges will start on December 16 and conclude on January 6, 2025. The court will resume regular sittings on January 7, 2025.

 

In a circular issued, Justice Tsoho clarified that only urgent cases will be entertained during the break. These include matters related to the enforcement of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and cases involving national interest.

The court’s operations will be restricted to three core judicial divisions: Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt. These divisions will remain open and functional throughout the vacation to handle any emergency cases. The appointed vacation judges for each division are as follows:

The Chief Judge’s announcement ensures that critical legal matters will continue to be addressed during the traditionally quieter holiday season, in line with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
