Dagrin's dad

Today April 22, 2015 makes it five years that promising rap singer, Oladapo Olanipekun, a.k.a. Dagrin, departed for the land of no return. Though he’s no longer more, but his music legacy lives on. Fondly called the “Lyrical Were”, the eclectic singer is remembered for his deep lyrical prowess, rhymes and sensational indigenous rap style. That is why over the years, many up and coming artistes as well as the established ones have continued to associate with his brand. However, today the deceased would be remembered and celebrated by his colleagues in the industry.

Leading the pack is his cousin, Teeblaq. Tee Blaq in conjunction with artistes like Olamide, Reminisce and a host of others will hold a musical concert today at Industry Nite at Spice Route, Lagos.

But in addition, Dagrin’s dad Comrade Olaniyi Abolaji Olanipekun will also be gracing the event. Societywatchng.com exclusively spoke with the father and he promised to be at the event.

Dagrin’s dad has also got musical prowess as many would still remember the freestyle he did five years back at his son’s burial. However, what we cannot ascertain now is if he would be performing at the event or be doing a bit of freestyle, but only time will tell.

Last year in an exclusive chat with Societywatchng.com, the lively man said his musical prowess is second to none. He also emphasized that the late music rapper got his prowess from him as it flows in the family genes.

“Music has always been in me,” he started. “When Dagrin was between 11 and 12, I encouraged him because music has been what I also know how to do best up till today. It may surprise you to know that I can sing better than many notable artistes out there.  Music is my hubby and it is in my blood,” he ended.

It would be recalled that the fallen star died on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor road, Mushin, Lagos as a result of a ghastly auto-crash.
