Enugu Governor Renames Road After ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’ Singer, Mike Ejeagha

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has renamed Obinagu Road after the renowned highlife musician, Mike Ejeagha.
Governor Mbah made the announcement during the commissioning of four roads in the Abakpa Nike area of Enugu, including the newly named Mike Ejeagha Crescent.
He emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring the achievements of the 93-year-old musician while he is still alive.

The governor also used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s dedication to infrastructural development across Enugu State.
He revealed that the government has awarded contracts for the construction of 141 roads, including 20 rural roads, with Abakpa among the areas set to benefit.
Mike Ejeagha’s music has recently experienced a resurgence in popularity, particularly his 1983 hit “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche,” which became a viral sensation thanks to a dance challenge initiated by comedian Brain Jotter.
The challenge brought Ejeagha’s folklore-style music to a new generation, highlighting his enduring influence in the world of highlife music.
