El-Rufai Arrives Court for Bail Hearing
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday arrived at the Federal High Court for the continuation of his bail hearing following earlier delays caused by legal manoeuvres.
El-Rufai, who appeared in court accompanied by members of his legal team and supporters, is seeking bail in a case that has drawn significant public attention. Proceedings had previously been stalled after lawyers involved in the matter raised preliminary objections and filed several motions.
At the resumed sitting, security was heightened around the court premises as journalists, political associates, and members of the public gathered to observe the proceedings.
Counsel to the former governor urged the court to grant him bail, arguing that he is a responsible public figure who would not interfere with the judicial process. The defence also maintained that El-Rufai is willing to comply with any conditions the court may impose.
However, the prosecution opposed the application, insisting that the court should carefully consider the nature of the allegations before granting bail.
The presiding judge listened to arguments from both parties and indicated that a ruling on the bail application would be delivered after reviewing all submissions.
