Easter: Anglican Bishop Decries Insecurity, Urges Protection of Lives

An Anglican bishop has raised concerns over the state of insecurity in Nigeria, calling on the government to take urgent and decisive action to protect lives and property across the country.

In his Easter message, the cleric lamented the persistent wave of violence and killings, questioning the effectiveness of security spending and the impact of policies aimed at addressing the crisis.

He noted that despite significant budgetary allocations to security agencies, many communities continue to experience attacks, leading to loss of lives and displacement of residents.

The bishop urged government authorities to reassess current strategies and ensure that resources allocated to security are properly utilized to achieve tangible results.

He emphasized that the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of its citizens, stressing that more needs to be done to restore public confidence and guarantee safety.

The cleric also called on Nigerians to use the Easter season as a time for reflection, unity, and prayers for peace and stability in the nation.

Stakeholders say the message reflects growing concerns among religious leaders and citizens over the need for more effective measures to tackle insecurity and safeguard communities.

The Easter period, which symbolizes hope and renewal, has continued to serve as a platform for calls for national healing and improved governance in Nigeria.
