Nigeria currently lead group B of the CAF World Cup 2018 qualifying series, but failure to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations made fans to raise concerns over the fitness of the players ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in August 2017.
However, Rohr has played down such notion, saying the AFCON 2019 qualifiers which will take place in March next year will be a veritable test ground to help his team gel before the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.
He also noted that the friendly game against Egypt on January 9, 2017 in Dubai, will play a big part in the players that would be selected for the competitive games next year. “We have a match with Egypt in Dubai for them to prepare for the AFCON,” he said.
