Defence Minister Urges Nigerians To Report Jobless Persons Living Lavishly
1 min readThe Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle, has called on residents of Sokoto State to report any jobless person living a flamboyant lifestyle to security agents.
This statement was made during his visit to Sokoto State alongside the Chief of Defence, General Christopher Musa, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to end banditry in the Northern region.
Matawalle emphasized the importance of community involvement in tackling insecurity, encouraging residents to provide adequate information to support security agencies.

He stated, “If you see someone who is not doing any work and is changing cars, spending money lavishly, please do not hesitate to report such person, as they may be informants to bandits.”
The government has employed 200 individuals from each of the 23 local governments into the Sokoto Community Guard Corps to complement the security team’s efforts.
Matawalle assured that the state government will continue to support security agencies, particularly troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, to ensure the security of the state.
