Nigerian music superstar Davido has publicly expressed gratitude to his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, following his intervention in the resurfacing paternity dispute involving a teenager named Anuoluwapo Adeleke.
The controversy reignited this month after the 12-year-old allegedly took to social media to appeal to the singer for a DNA test to confirm if he is her biological father. The request drew widespread attention and renewed debate online.
In response, Davido took to his social media platforms on Thursday to thank his father for his public stance. In a message shared on his Instagram Story, the Afrobeats icon posted a photo of himself with Dr. Adeleke accompanied by the caption, “Thank you my loving Father … ❤️🙏” — a gesture of appreciation for his support during the saga.
Dr. Adeleke, a respected businessman and billionaire, held a press briefing in Lagos this week to address the renewed claims. At the event, he reiterated that multiple DNA tests have been conducted over the years — reportedly five in total — and that all consistently showed no biological link between Davido and the teenager.
The elder Adeleke described his decision to speak publicly as necessary due to the persistent nature of the dispute and to clarify the family’s position. He emphasized that while scientific evidence has ruled out paternity, the girl nonetheless deserves clarity about her origins.
Despite distancing Davido from the claim, Dr. Adeleke also revealed that he had provided financial support for the teenager’s schooling and welfare over the years, even without discussing it with his son.
