Davido signs record deal with Great Sony Music
1 min readOne of Nigeria’s most celebrated musicians, David Adedeji, popularly known as Davido, has signed a musical record deal with world extolled musical record, Sony Music.
The American-based company made this known in a statement published on its website.
According to the statement, the deal entails Davido making and producing all his songs under the corporation’s label.
The deal was signed at Sony Music office in New York.
The Managing Director of Sony Africa, Sean Watson, during the signing rites said, “Working with incredible talent like Davido heralds a new era for Sony Music Entertainment Africa on the continent.
“We couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with Davido and we are extremely keen to support his vision to succeed at the highest level in our industry.”
Davido promised his African fans a great deal time with the Sony.
“I’m blessed to be partnering with Sony Music Entertainment on this next chapter. My number one aim is to make my fans and Africa proud,” Davido said.
Davido is the first Nigerian musician to secure such deal with Sony Music Corporation.
Popularly known for his Skelewu song, Davido released his first single ‘Dami Duro’ in 2011.
He also was nominated in the top 10 Nigeria’s most watched musical video in 2015 by Youtube and also won the MTV Africa Music Awards in the same year.
