Davido Shares Chioma’s Encouraging Words After Grammy Loss
Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about how his wife, Chioma Rowland-Adeleke, lifted his spirits after his second consecutive Grammy Awards loss.
The Afrobeats icon was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for his song With You featuring Omah Lay, but lost to South African sensation Tyla, whose hit Push 2 Start clinched the award.
In an emotional post shared on his Instagram/X account after the awards ceremony in Los Angeles, Davido admitted the defeat affected him and initially made him reluctant to attend the official after-party. However, his wife’s words changed his mind.
Davido quoted Chioma encouraging him, saying:
“Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.”
The singer then shared stylish photos of the couple at the event, highlighting how her support helped him stay positive despite the setback. Davido also affectionately described Chioma as his “ride or die,” acknowledging her unwavering support during a disappointing moment.
Fans and followers have since rallied around the couple online, praising Chioma’s encouragement and Davido’s resilience. Many have celebrated his consistent global influence in music, even without the Grammy win.
The 2026 Grammy Awards, held on February 1 at the Crypto.com Arena, showcased a strong African music presence across categories, but none of the Nigerian nominees secured a trophy this year.
