Dangote Now Supplies 92% Of Petrol As FG Pauses Imports

The Dangote Refinery has emerged as the dominant supplier of petrol in Nigeria, now accounting for about 92 per cent of the country’s fuel supply.

The development has reportedly prompted the Federal Government to pause petrol imports as local production from the refinery continues to meet a significant portion of national demand.

Industry stakeholders say the shift marks a major turning point for Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, which has long depended heavily on imported refined products.

With the refinery ramping up production, authorities believe the move could help reduce pressure on foreign exchange and improve domestic fuel availability.

Analysts also note that the growing output from the Dangote Refinery may lead to greater stability in the fuel supply chain and reshape competition within the petroleum market.

The change is expected to have far-reaching implications for marketers, importers, and the overall structure of Nigeria’s fuel distribution system.
