CDS Highlights Border Security, Local Defence Production as Priorities
The Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, Christopher Musa, has outlined a new defence strategy aimed at strengthening the country’s border security and promoting local defence production.
Speaking at a security forum, Musa said the military is prioritising tighter border control to curb cross-border crimes such as terrorism, arms smuggling and illegal migration.
He also stressed the importance of developing Nigeria’s domestic defence industry to reduce dependence on foreign military equipment and enhance the country’s capacity to address emerging security challenges.
According to the CDS, boosting local production of defence materials will not only improve national security but also contribute to economic growth and technological advancement.
Musa reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity while working with government and private stakeholders to strengthen defence capabilities.
