Buhari Responds To Adeleke’s Victory In The Osun Election By Saying, “This is democracy.”
1 min readSenator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari for winning the race for governor of Osun State.
The former congressman was proclaimed the winner of the recently held election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday.
Adeleke won the governorship election with 403,371 votes, defeating Gboyega Oyetola, who received 375,027 votes, in a close race.

In response, President Buhari expressed his delight with the exercise’s results in a posting on his verified Facebook page, saying, “This is what democracy is all about: respect for the choice of the people.”
Additionally, the president stated that his government will keep the nation’s elections free and fair.
I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on his victory in the Osun governor’s race, he stated in his letter. Through the ballot, the people of Osun have voiced their opinions.
