An investigative panel set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has revealed that crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, enjoyed special privileges while serving his six-month sentence at the Medium and Maximum Security Custodial Centres.

According to the panel’s report, Bobrisky was accorded preferential treatment, including a furnished single cell, humidifier, and unrestricted visits from family and friends.

The report also stated that he had access to a fridge, television, and possibly his phone.

The panel’s chairman, Magdalena Ajani, expressed concerns that Bobrisky’s privileges may have been financially motivated and based on corrupt practices by correctional officers.

“It is necessary to further investigate if the above privileges provided for Okuneye Idris were financially motivated and based on corrupt practices by correctional officers,” Ajani said.

The panel’s report also noted that Bobrisky’s transfer to a maximum security facility as a first offender violated Section 164A and Section 164B of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act of 2019.
