Bamidele Commits N200m Annually to Make Ekiti Varsity World-Class

Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has pledged an annual donation of N200 million to support the development of a new university in Ekiti State, with the goal of transforming the institution into a world-class centre for research and academic excellence.

Bamidele made the commitment during an official engagement with stakeholders, stating that sustained investment in education remains critical to human capital development and economic growth in the state and the country at large.

According to him, the yearly funding will be directed toward improving academic infrastructure, research capacity, staff development and student learning facilities to position the institution competitively among leading universities globally.

The Senate Leader noted that the initiative reflects his commitment to expanding access to quality education and supporting innovation-driven learning, particularly for young Nigerians seeking opportunities in science, technology and entrepreneurship.

Education stakeholders in Ekiti welcomed the announcement, describing the intervention as a significant boost for the emerging university and a step toward strengthening higher education in the state.

Bamidele also called on private sector partners, alumni and development organisations to collaborate with government efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability and global competitiveness of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
