Babcock University Alumni Urge Graduates to Focus on Skills Beyond Degrees

Alumni of Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, have advised members of the institution’s 2026 graduating class to prioritise skills acquisition alongside their academic degrees in order to succeed in an increasingly competitive global environment.

The alumni emphasised that while academic qualifications remain important, they are no longer sufficient on their own to guarantee career opportunities in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

Speaking during an engagement with the graduating students, the alumni highlighted the importance of adaptability, technological proficiency, and entrepreneurial capabilities, noting that these skills are essential for navigating modern professional landscapes.

They urged the graduates to embrace continuous learning and develop practical competencies that will enable them to remain relevant across different industries. According to them, employers now place significant value on problem-solving ability, innovation, and the capacity to adapt to changing workplace demands.

The alumni also encouraged the students to explore entrepreneurship and leverage digital technologies to create opportunities for themselves and others.

They further stressed that combining strong academic knowledge with practical skills would not only improve employability but also position graduates to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The advice forms part of broader efforts by the alumni community to mentor and guide students of the university as they prepare to transition from academic life into the professional world. 🎓
