AshGold deny Bashir leave request
1 min readBashir Hayford has not been allowed by his club to take a requested 90-day leave.
AshGold have been struggling this season, so soon after a brilliant run to the title last season. ANd their fans have been baying for the coach’s blood, which led him to request a 90-day leave.
But CEO Kudjoe Fianoo says it has not been granted.
“The leave has not been granted because Ashgold is not a one man club that the coach can decide on anything,” Fianoo told Joy Sports.
“In the coach’s contract we have it that he can only take his leave during the off season so it is not as easy as that so we haven’t accepted his decision to go on leave.
“We are facing some challenges but we must learn good lessons from what is happening across the globe, Newcastle changed their coach and went for a top notch coach in the person of Rafael Benitez but they have been relegated.
“I received the letter and when we renegotiated the contract it was done with a lot of input from the board so management cannot just decide to accept that he goes on leave that may come with some financial implications which will be beyond the mandate of management so no decision has been taken on him yet- he is still at post.”
