ANOH Gas Project Achieves First Gas, Commences Production — Seplat

Seplat Energy Plc has announced the achievement of first gas from the ANOH gas project, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s gas development drive.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Stanley Opara, spokesperson for Seplat Energy, said the 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH gas project has successfully commenced production, with gas supply already delivered to the Indorama Petrochemical plant.

“Seplat Energy Plc (“Seplat” or the “Company”), a leading Nigerian independent energy company listed on both the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the London Stock Exchange, is pleased to announce that the 300 MMscfd ANOH gas project has achieved first gas,” Opara said.

According to the company, the commencement of gas supply to Indorama Petrochemical marks the start of commercial operations for the ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), the project vehicle responsible for developing the facility. The milestone signals the transition of the project from development to production and commercial delivery.

The ANOH gas project is designed to process up to 300 MMscfd of gas, supplying domestic gas customers and supporting Nigeria’s industrial and power sectors. Seplat said the project aligns with its strategy to expand gas production, deepen domestic gas utilisation, and support the country’s energy transition agenda.

Industry analysts note that the delivery of first gas from ANOH is significant at a time when Nigeria is prioritising gas as a transition fuel to drive economic growth, reduce energy shortages, and cut reliance on more carbon-intensive fuels. Gas supplied to petrochemical plants such as Indorama is expected to support manufacturing, job creation, and value addition within the country.

Seplat reiterated its commitment to operational excellence and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure reliable gas supply to end users. The company added that further ramp-up activities will continue in line with operational plans to optimise output from the facility.

With first gas now achieved, the ANOH project is expected to play a growing role in strengthening Nigeria’s domestic gas infrastructure and supporting the federal government’s gas monetisation and industrialisation objectives.
