Adamawa govt suspends district head over corruption allegations

The Adamawa State Government has suspended the District Head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, over allegations of corruption and maladministration.
The suspension, announced by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the state Department of Chieftaincy Affairs, took much of the state by storm considering the high regards that traditional institutions enjoy around the state.
A letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Adama Felicity Mamman, told the district head of “series of complaints made against you for maladministration, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a vacuum that has led to traditional issues unattended for as a result of your not staying in your domain.”
The letter, dated April 25, 2025 but obtained on Sunday by Daily Post, indicated that it was issued under the authority of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
“I am directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State to suspend you from office indefinitely,” the permanent secretary said.
She ordered Ja’afaru to immediately hand over all government properties in his possession to the district secretary.
