REAL MADRID DEMANDS LA LIGA CHIEF’S RESIGNATION
Real Madrid have demanded the immediate resignation of La Liga president Javier Tebas following his controversial remarks comparing the club’s communication methods to propaganda techniques used in Nazi Germany.
In a statement, the Spanish giants described Tebas’s comments as unacceptable, arguing that he lacked the neutrality, respect and impartiality required for his position.
The controversy erupted after Tebas criticised Real Madrid’s leadership and its television channel, accusing them of repeatedly highlighting refereeing decisions to create suspicion and promote a narrative of unfair treatment.
Tebas referenced the propaganda techniques of Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister, but clarified that his comparison concerned communication methods rather than Nazi ideology or Real Madrid supporters.
Real Madrid rejected the explanation, insisting that the remarks were offensive and part of what the club described as repeated attacks against its leadership and media operations.
The club also renewed calls for reforms to Spain’s refereeing system and football governing structures, while raising concerns over the ongoing Negreira case involving payments by Barcelona to companies linked to a former refereeing official.
Tebas, who has led La Liga since 2013, remains in office as the dispute between the league and Real Madrid intensifies.
