EL-RUFAI FAILS TO STOP ICPC, EFCC FROM FREEZING ACCOUNTS
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has failed to obtain a court order restraining the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from freezing his bank accounts.
El-Rufai had approached the court seeking an order to prevent the anti-corruption agencies from freezing his accounts as investigations involving him continued.
The legal move was aimed at stopping the agencies from taking further action against his bank accounts while the matter remained before the court.
However, the court did not grant the requested order, leaving the agencies without the specific restriction El-Rufai had sought.
The development comes amid ongoing legal and investigative issues involving the former governor and the anti-corruption authorities.
The refusal to grant the order does not, by itself, determine the outcome of any underlying investigation or establish wrongdoing by El-Rufai.
