IPOB Declares May 30 Sit-at-Home to Honour Fallen Biafran Heroes

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced a sit-at-home order for May 30, 2026, in remembrance of those who died during the Nigerian Civil War.

The group said the annual observance is aimed at honouring fallen Biafran heroes and marking the sacrifices made during the conflict.

According to IPOB, residents in the South-East are expected to remain indoors as part of activities scheduled to commemorate the occasion.

The announcement has sparked renewed discussions over security and economic activities in the region, as previous sit-at-home directives have affected businesses, transportation, and public movement.

Authorities are expected to monitor the situation closely amid concerns about compliance and public safety.
