Osun to Provide Free Artificial Limbs for 1,000 Amputees
The Osun State government has launched a humanitarian programme to provide free artificial limbs for 1,000 amputees, in a move aimed at restoring mobility and improving quality of life.
Officials said the initiative will supply prosthetic limbs to beneficiaries across the state, helping them regain independence and reintegrate into daily activities. The programme is also expected to ease the financial burden on affected individuals and their families.
According to the state government, the intervention underscores its commitment to inclusive healthcare and social welfare, particularly for vulnerable groups. Medical teams and specialists will be deployed to assess beneficiaries and ensure proper fitting and rehabilitation support.
“This programme is about giving people a second chance at mobility and dignity,” a government representative said.
Residents and advocacy groups have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward improving support for persons living with disabilities in the state.
