Otti Seeks Global Certification for Three Abia Hospitals

Governor Alex Otti has announced plans to secure international accreditation for three major hospitals in Abia State as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery.

The governor said the state is targeting certification from the Joint Commission International (JCI), a globally recognized standard for quality healthcare and patient safety.

According to Otti, the move is aimed at upgrading medical facilities, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring that hospitals in the state meet international best practices. He noted that achieving JCI certification would position Abia as a hub for quality healthcare services in Nigeria and beyond.

The initiative is also expected to boost public confidence in the state’s health system and attract medical tourism, while improving training and capacity for healthcare professionals.

Officials say preparations are already underway, including facility upgrades, staff training, and compliance with required standards.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the healthcare sector and delivering accessible, high-quality services to residents.
