Party, State of Origin Irrelevant in Abia Appointments — Otti

Governor Alex Otti has reiterated that political party affiliation and state of origin will not determine appointments in his administration in Abia State.

Speaking during an official engagement, Otti emphasized that competence, integrity, and capacity to deliver will remain the primary criteria for selecting individuals into government positions. He noted that his administration is committed to building a results-driven system that prioritizes merit over sectional considerations.

The governor stated that such an approach is necessary to drive effective governance and ensure that public institutions function optimally. He added that focusing on merit would also promote fairness, inclusiveness, and professionalism in the state’s public service.

Otti further assured residents that his government will continue to attract the best talents, regardless of their political background, to contribute to the development of Abia State. He stressed that the goal is to deliver tangible results that improve the lives of citizens.

Observers say the stance reflects a shift toward technocratic governance, with emphasis on performance and accountability rather than political patronage.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and good governance as his administration continues to implement reforms across key sectors in the state.
