Bandits Launch Over 50 Attacks in One Week Despite Security Spending — Report

Abuja, Nigeria – A new security report has revealed that bandits carried out more than 50 attacks and abductions across parts of Nigeria within a single week, raising fresh concerns about the country’s worsening security situation.
The report comes despite the expenditure of N57.78 billion on security-related efforts, prompting experts and stakeholders to question the effectiveness of current strategies aimed at combating banditry and other violent crimes.
According to the findings, the attacks resulted in multiple casualties, kidnappings, and the displacement of residents in affected communities, particularly in vulnerable rural areas.
Security analysts warned that the frequency of attacks highlights persistent gaps in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and rapid response capabilities, calling for a review of existing security measures.
They stressed the need for stronger coordination among security agencies, improved intelligence-sharing, and greater investment in technology-driven solutions to address the growing threat posed by armed groups.
The report has renewed calls for government authorities to reassess security policies and ensure that resources allocated to combating insecurity translate into tangible improvements in public safety.
Residents in affected communities have also urged the government to intensify efforts to protect lives and property as fears continue to grow over recurring attacks and abductions across the country.
