Tinubu Not Responsible for Fuel Price Hike — APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the (APC) has defended President , stating that the recent increase in fuel prices is not a result of his administration’s policies.

The party stalwart attributed the hike to global economic factors, including fluctuations in crude oil prices and foreign exchange challenges.

According to him, Nigeria, like many other countries, is affected by international market dynamics that influence the cost of petroleum products.

He noted that the deregulation of the downstream sector means prices are now largely determined by market forces rather than direct government control.

The APC chieftain urged Nigerians to understand the broader economic context, adding that efforts are ongoing to stabilise the economy and cushion the impact on citizens.

Economic analysts have also pointed to global trends as key drivers of fuel price volatility, though concerns remain over the effect on the cost of living.

The remarks come amid growing public debate over rising fuel costs and their impact on households and businesses across the country.

Observers say the issue is likely to remain a major topic in national discourse as the government explores measures to manage economic pressures.
