Remi Tinubu to Close 2026 National Para Games

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is set to serve as the special guest of honour at the closing ceremony of the 2026 National Para Games scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The event, which marks the end of the third edition of the games, is expected to bring together athletes, officials, and stakeholders from across the country to celebrate outstanding performances and promote inclusivity in sports.

Organisers say the presence of the First Lady underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities and encouraging their participation in sporting activities.

The National Para Games have provided a platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their talents, foster unity, and promote equal opportunities within Nigeria’s sports sector.

Officials noted that the closing ceremony will feature medal presentations, cultural displays, and recognition of exceptional athletes who distinguished themselves during the competition.

The games have also been praised for raising awareness about the importance of accessibility and inclusion, while helping to identify talents that could represent Nigeria in international competitions.

Stakeholders believe that increased support and visibility for para sports will further strengthen Nigeria’s standing in global competitions and inspire more athletes to pursue excellence despite challenges.
