N688bn Disbursed, Nine Million Nigerian Homes Benefit from FG Cash Transfer — Minister

The Federal Government has disbursed a total of ₦688 billion to support vulnerable citizens, with over nine million households across the country benefiting from its cash transfer programme, according to the Minister.

The initiative, introduced as part of measures to cushion the impact of ongoing economic reforms, aims to provide direct financial support to low-income families struggling with rising living costs.

Speaking on the development, government officials stated that the programme has significantly improved the welfare of millions of Nigerians, helping them meet basic needs such as food, healthcare, and education.

The cash transfer scheme forms a key component of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, designed to mitigate the short-term effects of policy changes while promoting long-term economic stability.

According to the Minister, the distribution process has been closely monitored to ensure transparency and accountability, with efforts made to reach the most vulnerable populations across both urban and rural communities.

Despite the progress recorded, some stakeholders have called for increased oversight and expansion of the programme to cover more Nigerians affected by the economic situation.

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to sustaining the initiative, noting that additional interventions are being considered to further support citizens as reforms continue to take effect.

Economic analysts say the programme could play a crucial role in reducing poverty levels if properly implemented and maintained over time.
