NIMC Debunks Fake Free NIN Data Correction Link

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has warned Nigerians about a fake flyer and online link circulating on social media that claims to offer free correction of National Identification Number (NIN) data.

In a statement, the commission clarified that the message is fraudulent and did not originate from the agency. It urged citizens to disregard the flyer and avoid clicking on suspicious links that could expose their personal information to cybercriminals.

NIMC explained that any modification or correction of NIN records should only be carried out through its official self-service portal or authorised enrollment centres.

The commission advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and always verify information through official channels to avoid falling victim to online scams.

NIMC also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens’ identity data and ensuring the integrity of the national identity system in Nigeria.
