Ramadan: Kebbi Adjusts Working Hours for Civil Servants
The Kebbi State Government has approved a temporary adjustment of working hours for civil servants in observance of the Ramadan fast, aiming to ease the burden on workers during the holy month.
Under the new arrangement, public servants will now work from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The directive is expected to remain in effect throughout Ramadan, after which the regular schedule will be restored.
State officials said the decision reflects the government’s recognition of the physical demands of fasting and its commitment to staff welfare. The adjustment, they noted, is designed to help employees maintain productivity while observing religious obligations.
The government urged workers to remain dedicated to their duties despite the shortened hours, emphasising that efficient service delivery should not be compromised. Heads of ministries, departments, and agencies have been instructed to ensure compliance with the new timetable.
Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is marked by fasting, prayer, and reflection. Adjustments to work schedules are common in many states and institutions during the period to accommodate the needs of fasting employees.
The Kebbi State Government also called on residents to use the season to promote peace, discipline, and mutual understanding across communities.
