Zulum, Obasa, Oloyede Headline UNILAG Muslim Alumni’s 31st Pre-Ramadan Lecture

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Muslim Alumni Association has announced Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, as headline speakers for its 31st pre-Ramadan lecture.

The annual lecture, a key event in the Islamic calendar of the association, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 15, 2026, in Lagos.

According to a statement released by the organisers, the lecture aims to prepare Muslims spiritually and intellectually for the holy month of Ramadan, while also addressing contemporary social, governance, and moral issues affecting the nation.

Governor Zulum is expected to speak on leadership, resilience, and governance from an Islamic perspective, drawing from his experiences in managing security and humanitarian challenges in Borno State. Speaker Obasa will address the role of legislation and public service in promoting justice and social harmony, while Prof. Oloyede is billed to deliver scholarly reflections on faith, education, and national development.

The event is expected to attract Muslim professionals, academics, students, traditional leaders, and public office holders from across the country.

Chairman of the UNILAG Muslim Alumni Association described the pre-Ramadan lecture as a platform that has, over the years, fostered unity, moral reawakening, and constructive engagement among Muslims and the wider society.

He added that the 31st edition reflects the association’s commitment to blending faith with practical solutions to national challenges.

The lecture will also feature special prayers for the nation, as well as supplications ahead of the Ramadan fast.
