Dangote Refinery Raises Ex-Gantry Petrol Price to N799/Litre
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the ex-gantry price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by N100 to N799 per litre.
The adjustment represents a rise from the previous price of N699 per litre, which took effect on December 12, 2025. Ex-gantry price refers to the rate at which products are sold to marketers directly from the refinery, excluding transportation and other distribution costs.
Industry observers say the increase is likely to ripple across the downstream sector, potentially leading to higher pump prices nationwide as marketers factor in logistics and margins. The development comes amid ongoing volatility in global crude oil prices, foreign exchange pressures, and rising operational costs within Nigeria’s energy sector.
The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, has been positioned as a key stabilising force for Nigeria’s fuel supply since it began domestic distribution of refined petroleum products. However, market analysts note that pricing remains sensitive to crude input costs, exchange rates, and regulatory dynamics following the removal of petrol subsidies.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official announcement from regulatory authorities on the impact of the new ex-gantry price on retail pump prices, though consumers may begin to see adjustments at filling stations in the coming days.
